Path to the Library
Dharamsala, India

oil on canvas
18" x 24"

Each day in Dharamsala I made my way down the hill from Upper Dharamsala, or Mcleod Ganj, to the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives for lectures on Tibetan Buddhism. This is where I first saw the Dalai Lama as he was driven past on his way to a meeting.

Everywhere in this part of the world one sees monkeys living their lives in freedom. You cannot see in this picture - but there is a baby monkey clinging to the underside of his mother, little hands visible above and below her tummy, as they travel through the beautiful trees, tall rhododendrons of the Himalayas, and prayer flags.
